The German government permits the U.S. Forces in Europe, defined as any person stationed in Germany under the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA), to conduct courses that allow U.S. Forces personnel to qualify for a foreigner's hunting, fishing and/or recreational sport shooting certification in Germany. U.S. Forces personnel instruct these courses in English at Installation Management Command-Europe garrisons and U.S. Air Force Europe bases.
The emphasis of the training is to learn German laws, traditions, rules, regulations and requirements that are more thorough (and enforced) when compared with requirements in the United States. The training you will also receive in safety, game identification and overall procedures provides U.S. hunters, fishers and sport shooters with knowledge and abilities that create a more well-rounded outdoors-woman/outdoors-man.
You do not receive your license at the time of graduation but after passing the appropriate licensing class, you are then given the opportunity to obtain a German hunting/fishing/sport shooting license, purchase and store weapons and join in the hunting and fishing traditions that go back several hundred years.
To receive your license, you must collect the appropriate documentation and go to your local licensing and registration office so visit the corresponding page on this website for a listing of documents and offices to register.
